There are applications which can not be protected with PC Guard software protection system.

Here are some examples:

a) Applications with internal overlay.

Most GUI application development tools are using internal overlay (additional data located at the end of file).

Since internal overlay is repositioned after protection process there is a possibility that application code will not be able to locate and use this data. Such applications require special support.

b) Applications with internal anti-virus or integrity checks.

These applications will refuse to work after protection due to detected changes in file structure (file is encrypted and additional protection code is added to it during protection process).

Self-extracting archives, setup files, already encrypted applications with integrity check functions are goods examples of these applications.

c) Badly linked applications with strange header information and applications with damaged structure
